PLEASE - read all the way down to the bottom of the page - new quilts here are ready to go but you need to follow the request rules, please...
Now, it's frightfully easy to find Pretty Pink and Baby Blue and Lemon-with-Unicorns for your tiny acquaintances, but Goth Baby Quilts are a bit thin on the ground. And, I like the Dark Side, so I make them.
If your heart is overtaken with love for one of these, ask at helen@helenhowestextiles.co.uk
For yourself, or your near-and-dear. Not for Linus (worthy though this is, can you really see Linus handing out skulls and skellingtons? Really?)
Above Goth Baby One - Black and Gold prints, black Oakshott. Long gone.. Baby was delighted. Mum was happy..
This is Goth Baby Two
I was given one of those Mr Chillingsworth skeleton-in-a-top-hat panels, because it had a dirty mark on it. What to do? well, cut it up, of course. At Festival of Quilts I was demonstrating, on a black Singer handcrank, this fairly traditional Drunkards Path block, and my late, great, good friend Kate Percival exclaimed "Oh, elbows!" and "Oh, I don't do curves"
So, the elbows were donated, and she was Led Astray...
And the quilt was offered on Fabecook, and was claimed by a charming lady with a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old, who took it on holiday to Cornwall and then they all sent me a nice card with pictures of the picnic..
And, then I met her at a talk, where I told the story, and got a huge hug which was wonderful...
And this is Goth Baby Three, blocks laid out, now layered, and which is still In Progress, and will be ready sometime in April 2019. It's layered, just not quilted yet. (ETA, quilted, and gone to a new home)
And, because I can't count or do things in order, this one is Happy Hallowe'en, and it's ready to go to a new home.
I made the blocks for this one at a quilt retreat in November 2018. The cheddar-coloured fabric is from Abakhan, and I could not resist the colour. Heather did not like it, until I cut it up..
Here's a detail. It has spots, leaves, and rather a lot of reindeer for some reason. Perhaps the grey.. (Also now departed)
I'm always on the lookout for Gothy fabrics, and here are a couple waiting the cutter - the skully one glows in the dark..
As I said, no sense of order, so this is Goth Baby Five, and I think it may have already left the building. I'll check (It has)
And this may well be one, although not started for this; perhaps later in the year. It is finished, but I want to show it off a bit more. This is called One Hundred and Eighty and was mostly made on the retreat mentioned above; apart from assembling and quilting, of course...
Now, Rules. Gotta have Rules
You can ask for a quilt which is ready and available, for your child(ren) or someone really close who likes the quilt a lot. No, I don't want to donate anything for a raffle, or a tombola, or Linus, or whatever, from this page, sorry.
You email me on helen@helenhowestextiles.co.uk with your postal address and a polite whyfore, and I send the quilt. I don't want money, even for postage, that's not how I do this...
You can't ask me to make one specially, nor will I promise one that isn't ready.. See above. I will post when these are gone to new homes. I will also add quilts as they appear...
I like, in return, an image of the quilt in use, which I will not share on social media or this blog...
I have lots of Gothy fabrics awaiting the cutter...
Arachnophile (long gone)
Happy Hallowe'en (Now gone)
and
Vampire Skulls (Also now gone)
If you think one of these is yours, please email e on helen@helenhowestextiles.co.uk to request. No cost to you apart from a polite ask...
